One of Combination’s absolute best extremely powers is its ability to fuse onto surfaces, turning into one of the most resilient paints on the market.
And while that’s a massive perk …
… due to the fact that of that supreme bonding power, if you don’t clean up the lids off well after each use (raising hand here gradually …), the covers can adhere to the bottles.
Or worse, my lazy methods can develop such a goopy mess over time that I can’t even re-close the lids, ending up with paint drying.
Now know, if you do the following vigilantly, you will not have a paint lid sticking concern …
Paint lids will not stick if you:
- Clean the rims clean after each usage.
- Rinse the covers completely under running water until they are spotless.
- Place some cling wrap in between the lid and the rlim prior to screwing the lid back on.
But … being that I tend to paint and run, I may start off good, however gradually, face problems.
Not long ago, I remained in a group requesting for ideas on all this, when my friend Debbie Dion Hayes Creative mentioned, “Why do not you drill a hole in the lid?”
DOH! Obviously! However could it be that simple?!

Tidy up took seconds compared to minutes!
And the paint containers were a lot easier to save without all that cling wrap layering I had on the go.

DIY paint pouring lid hack
Supplies I used:
3/8 ″ drill bit(or simply use a big sufficient bit to drill a good sized putting hole)
Block of scrap wood
Clean running water
How to develop a pouring cover:
1. Remove the paint cover and liner from the pint.
In some cases the liners are adhered to the top of the pint, and others are embedded into the lid.
2. Tidy the lid under running water up until pristine.
3. Wipe the rim edge down leaving it pristine.
4. Choose where you prefer the hole to go, then flip the cover upside down on a scrap piece of wood.
5.
I utilized a 3/8 ″ drill bit however other similar sizes would likely work just fine too.
6. Screw the cover back on the pint, then cover the hole with a piece of masking tape to store.
How to use the pour cover
7. Prior to using the paint, cover the masking taped hole with your thumb, then carefully shake the paint to mix.
8. Get rid of the masking tape, then tip the paint bottle and carefully squeeze the paint to put out the desired quantity into a clean container.
It operates exactly like a squeeze bottle or fifo bottle!
How to store
9. Wipe paint drips around the hole with a rag, then re-cover the hole with a fresh brand-new piece of masking tape.
I have been using this paint cover hack for a couple of months now and here are my findings:
Other amazing findings utilizing this technique:
No matter how low the paint gets in the bottle, it does not dry out. I get every last leave of a pint!
I never ever need to open the lids, however you still have that ability if you wish to. Simply ensure you clean the covers spotlessly again prior to re-closing so they don’t stick.
A drilled paint cover pour spout will encourage you to pour the paint into other containers to use. This minimizes the possibility of infecting the paint.
Even when the odd time I forget to cover the holes with tape for a number of days, not one pint has actually dried yet!
Clean-up is now seconds vs. minutes due to no lid cleansing nor rim wrapping required.
